Literacy Retreats are a concept rooted in the value of networking and connecting with like-minded individuals in a relaxed setting. These one-day events are basically “anti-conferences," offering participants the ability to have casual discussions surrounding various topics of interest. Retreat attendees will step outside the confines of their professional obligations and objectives and open themselves up to sharing new ideas and learning from one another. The ultimate goal of a Literacy Retreat is to build strong relationships among professionals in our industry that will grow and mature as we tackle our state’s most pressing educational issues.
The beauty of an “anti-conference” is that there is not a tightly scheduled agenda of speakers and presentations. The day’s activities will be loosely organized around a variety of topics with the participants actively engaged with each other instead of listening to a speaker. Discussions will be guided to ensure participants get the most out of each session, but the schedule will be flexible to address issues that arise as discussions develop.
Ready to join us? Make your plans today by joining our upcoming Literacy Retreat!
